LABRARY: A Platform for Library Innovation

LABRARY is SXSW's only bike-driven, pop-up festival of library experiments.

LABRARY is an experimental pop-up library, landing on the lawn of the O. Henry Museum during SXSW Interactive 2014. The project is a collaboration between the Austin Public Library Friends Foundation and the Library Test Kitchen, a Harvard Library-supported Design Seminar that engages students in designing and building future library machines.

LABRARY is the Library Test Kitchen’s prototype library space. It’s a place to play with media, share ideas, discuss the future of the library (including Austin’s) and create and exhibit your own library machines. Last time we occupied a storefront in Harvard Square in Cambridge, MA, this time, we’ll be popping-up out of a bike trailer! We can’t wait. Join us for an all-ages, public festival of library ideas and activities!

LABRARY is exists because of the generousity of the Harvard Library Lab on behalf of the Arcadia Fund. You guys are amazing!

Library Test Kitchen 09125: Library Machines

LABRARY is the outgrowth of Library Test Kitchen an advanced seminar in the Harvard Graduate School of Design. We have a working budget, a defined client, and a desire for impact. And we want to have fun while we're at it.
